Eyeliner tattoo healing process

Eyeliner tattoo healing process day by day | MB Elegant Micro

There are two short-time and long-time semi-permanent eyeliner healing processes depending on the skin type.

The short-term permanent eyeliner healing process lasts between 7 to 10 days.

The long-term permanent eyeliner healing process lasts between 4 to 6 weeks.

Please note that an eyeliner tattoo is a more sensitive treatment process, and to do it, you must get the treatment with an expert and experienced artist.

Here we focus on the short-term healing process due to its importance and the long-term healing process will be done by the body and you most likely even do not feel it.

Notice: your eyeliner tattoo right after the treatment looks very dark and it maybe makes you regret getting it. Do not worry! In fact, the pigment will be faded, up to 30% after the healing time and the true colour will appear between one to three months depending on the skin type.

Eyeliner tattoo healing process

permanent eyeliner tattoo healing schedule day by day

The eyeliner tattoo healing process stages depending on the skin type and physical condition are different, but there is a general healing schedule day by day:

Day 1

On the first day, there would be some symptoms such as irritation, redness, swelling, and lymph buildup on your eyelids and around the treated area which should be addressed as follow:

  • According to the micro-wounds after the eyeliner treatment, you can expect some swelling, irritation, and soreness on the first day of the treatment. In order to reduce the redness and swelling of the eyes, in the first 24 hours after the eyeliner tattoo, be sure to put a cold compress on your eyelids to relieve the discomfort. To avoid direct contact with rock ice, put some ice cubes in a clean plastic bag and then place them on your eyelids.

Note that putting ice cubes on the eyes for a long time or under more pressure can cause headaches. So, it is better not to do this continuously and for a long time.

  • It is significant to keep your eyes clean and apply Vitamin A or Skin Candy two or three times a day.
  • If you see some lymph buildup (plasma) you need to clean them with gauze or clean tissue according to the aftercare plan your artist prescribed.

Note: do not wash or water your eyes until three days.

Day 2

On the second day of the eyeliner tattoo healing process, the swelling on the eyelids would be getting better, however, it is still there. The eyelids are tight and sensitive yet. Avoid touching them as much as you can.

The itchiness starts for most people on the second day and you need to continue applying Vitamin A or Skin Candy two or three times per day depending on your skin dryness.

Generally, there should not be any lymph buildup secretion on the second day, however, if the lymph buildup (plasma) continues on the second day, clean them by tapping a clean tissue, and do not allow them to pile up on each other. If they pile up onto each other, they can make thicker scabs and those thick scabs can take the pigments out easily and cause the fading in that area.

If the swelling or inflammation annoys you, it is better to use anti-inflammatory cream such as (hydrocortisone ointment) with your family doctor's permission.

Day 3 to 4

In this stage, the swelling on the eyelids will subside on the third or fourth day depending on the skin type. Furthermore, the scabs start to be fallen slowly; it is a normal part of the healing process that causes the close of the wounds on the skin's surface.

If you take the scabs off, you have removed the pigments that are already planted inside your skin, and white spots without pigment will appear on the treated areas due to improper settlement of pigments.

The itchiness still exists and the best way to relieve the itchy feeling on your permanent eyeliner is using the aftercare ointment that your artist approved.

After a few days if the swelling does not subside, connect with your artist and let them know to assess and control the situation.

Days 5-10

At this point, you see the flaky scabs continue to be fallen and it might last up to 10 days. Generally, there should not be any redness, irritation, swelling or harsh itchiness at this time, however, you’d better keep using Vitamine A on the treated area.

At the end of this stage of eyeliner tattoo healing process, you might think your result looks a little bit faded or the pigments are disappeared but do not panic, the colour will return.

Days 11 – 14

In this stage, you don't need to continue using the ointment anymore unless your skin is very sensitive or dry in the healed area.  You'd better not wear any makeup yet until the end of the 14th day!

Also, this stage is the end of the (short time) healing process!

Long-term healing process:

3-6 weeks

The long-term permanent eyeliner healing process is starting and will continue for a few more weeks. dryness feeling or unpleasant symptoms have been ended. In addition, the paleness you had seen in your eyeliner will back gradually.

If you want to wear makeup at this time, you can do it but be careful about the cleanliness and freshness of the products you want to use because the healed area might be at risk of infection.

At the end of 6 weeks, your permanent eyeliner healing process is finished, and I like to say your congrats!

Touch-up session:

After 4 weeks you are allowed to schedule your touch-up session and you do not need to stay until 6 weeks anymore.

Although the eyeliner tattoo process is a non-invasive procedure, this method implies breaking the skin surface and needs some time to recover and close up the micro-wounds. However, it is worth it once you get it, and you can enjoy smudge-proof eyeliner for years.

The permanent eyeliner healing process has two aspects including skin recovery and pigment settling.

Swelling after getting the permanent eyeliner tattoo:

Swelling after an eyeliner tattoo is normal and this swelling disappears after three or five days. But there are some methods of treating swelling after an eyeliner tattoo such as creams and ice that you can use and minimize this period of inflammation as much as possible.

How long does it take to heal an eyeliner tattoo?

The recovery time is different depending on the skin type. By the way, on average, the duration of the healing process after an eyeliner tattoo is between 7 to 10 days. As we said, it is normal for the swelling to last for 3-5 days after the eyeliner tattoo. Also, it takes 7-10 days for the scabs to be fallen naturally.

Itchiness after eyeliner tattoo:

One of the problems you may face after getting an eyeliner tattoo is itchy eyelids. However, be careful to avoid scratching the skin because it can prolong the healing process. In that case, be sure to use vitamin A ointment to prevent itchiness.

Is permanent eyeliner worth it?

If you are one of those women who spend a lot of time drawing eyeliner, or if you are working and don't have much time to do your eyes' makeup every morning, an eyeliner tattoo can be a great suggestion for you. Also, if you use a lot of energy to match your eyeliners to be even or you like to always wear makeup on your eyes at any time, you can get an eyeliner tattoo. It can give you permanent beauty if it fits your face shape.

This beauty method is also extremely suitable for those who have drooping eyelids.

How to speed up the healing process of inflammation after an eyeliner tattoo?

  • After the eyeliner tattoo, do not wash your eyes for three days.
  • In order to reduce the inflammation and swelling of the eyes, in the first 24 hours after the tattoo, be sure to put an ice compress on your eyelids.
  • To avoid direct contact with cold, put some ice cubes in plastic bags and then place them on your eyelids.
  • From the very first day, start using vitamin A ointment. For this purpose, use a cotton swab and put some vitamin A ointment on the cotton swab three times a day, and then apply this ointment to the tattooed part of your eyelid.
  • If you feel itchy in the area of the eyeliner tattoo, avoid scratching to prevent further swelling.
  • Avoid going to the pool and sauna for a week.
  • Until the swelling of the eyeliner tattoo is completely healed, avoid sunbathing and being in the sun and be sure to use sunglasses.
  • We suggest you avoid microdermabrasion before and after the eyeliner tattoo.
