Scalp Micropigmentation is a semi-permanent treatment that lasts between 3-5 years on the scalp. All types of cosmetic tattoos fade after a few years no matter whether they are called permanent such as permanent makeup or not.
There are some factors that affect the durability of scalp micropigmentation and help you to keep your SMP for a longer time. Here we provided some points that help you to protect your SMP result for a longer time.
SMP of a clientele after 2 years
As shown in the video, all the pigments are settled properly even after two years and there is no pigment migration or total fading on the scalp. The only reason for touch-up was to have a fresh look.
Depending on your skin type, you might need a yearly touch-up to have a fresh look, after two years or even after 4 or 5 years. On average, SMP lasts on your scalp for between 3 to 5 years.
As we explained, SMP needs a touch-up after 3 to 5 years. In some cases depending on your skin type, this time might be after a year. Here we show the scalp micropigmentation after 5 years and how fresh it looks after a touch-up.
After 5 years, the dots would be faded and turn into a dark shadow on the scalp. This is not a botched SMP; only some pigments are faded and some are left. This creates a non-integrated appearance and a quick touch-up in one session can make it fresh like the first day of SMP.
