Scalp micropigmentation vs tattoos

What is the difference between scalp micropigmentation and tattooing?

In fact, scalp micropigmentation or SMP is a branch of cosmetic and medical tattoos. Tattoo is a term that applies to a wide range of businesses such as lip blush, eyebrow tattoos, eyeliner, scalp micropigmentation, body tattoos, etc. Now, we can talk about the differences between them.

In the beginning, Body tattoos and SMP cartridges are different. Because the tattoo is done for a large area in the body, the cartridges have more needles inside them, while the scalp micropigmentation is done by cartridges with 3 converge needles. Of course, in delicate designs for tattoos, different cartridges are used, which can be very delicate. Generally, cartridges with more than 3 needles, do not work for Scalp Micropigmentation.

Moreover, the techniques for doing them are different. In body tattoos, the pigments are deposited in the middle of the dermis layer of skin while in scalp micropigmentation, the pigments are settled in the upper layer of the dermis. It means SMP is done more superficially.

In addition, scalp micropigmentation inks are completely different from tattoo inks. They are carbon-based and both organic ones from vegetable and fruit dyes and inorganic ones are made of iron oxides, titanium dioxide and barium sulphate [1]. So, if an artist uses the tattoo pigments for scalp micropigmentation two things will happen. First, after a while, the simulated hair follicle turns blue. Second, the pigment migration will happen, and the simulated hair follicles will turn into circles with a 1 mm diameter that is not realistic.

In conclusion, the material and experience of the artist are the most significant factors that affect the final result of scalp micropigmentation. Mrs. Boroughani with more than 7 years of experience has enough proficiency to give you the result that you are looking for.
